Our Philosophy
54 Thrones is a community celebrating African beauty through ancestral ingredients, indulgent skincare products and subversive storytelling.
Inspired by her own Nigerian heritage, Christina had one goal in mind: to create clean yet decadent skincare products that sustainably honor the rich natural resources of Africa and the authentic beauty rituals that have been handed down from generation to generation.
We believe
Clean beauty originated in Africa. Many of these African beauty rituals we share were initially created with intent to heal or celebrate.
Plant botanicals like: roots, herbs, oils and butters were first used to efficaciously treat ailments, maintain health or as part of ceremonious occasions like births and weddings. These same plant botanicals have powerful results when used as part of your beauty routine.
Meet ourfounder
Christina Funke Tegbe
A southern-American childhood rooted with the cultural essence of Nigeria, Christina grew up experiencing the true and sacred beauty of Africa.
Empowered by her Nigerian aunt who would indulge her with tubs of shea butter sent via Nigeria and moved by the ingenuity and innovation across the Africa's 54 countries, she answered the call to share the beauty and soul of Africa with the world. In 2015, she left a career in corporate consulting and after traveling all around Africa learning about these beauty secrets, she launched 54 Thrones in 2016.
With 54 Thrones, Christina aspires to spread the message of the African beauty or #A-beauty . Determined to share the beauty and authenticity of an Africa often not seen, she partners with passionate artisans who handcraft many of the rich ingredients that make up the brand.

Christina travels to each country to source our key ingredients, personally meeting each artisan, cooperative members and businesses that we work with. Collaborating to create authentic, sustainably-made beauty products inspired by ancient African tradition.
The result: high-quality, African-grown key ingredients, backed by women who've cared for their skin with these natural ingredients for generations.

The Mission
Our mission is to romanticize African beaut rituals through ethereal, whimsical, joyous product experiences. We have an ethos of trade not aid and take pride with working with our African farmer and cooperative partners.

We've selected key ingredient grown on African soil to be the stars of our products. We go to each cooperative first-hand to see the process, meet the people, and to ensure we are sustainably sourcing ingredients. We pick the highest quality African beauty ingredients that will give you glowing results and make you feel beautiful.
